Welcome

VALUE is a European partnership project aiming to demonstrate the economic value of GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE in cities and regions.

Please visit VALUE’s follow-on project: VALUE+

VALUE stands for ‘Valuing Attractive Landscapes in the Urban Economy’ and is a project funded through the European Union Interreg IVB programme for North West Europe.  The project brings together 9 project partner organisations in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK.

The Challenge is to establish where to target green infrastructure investments in cities and regions to deliver the greatest economic benefits while ensuring that high quality green infrastructure is protected and integral to the urban fabric.

Prosperous Communities - quality green infrastructure is vital to support strong and prosperous communities throughout North West Europe.  This is particularly important as urban greenspaces are being built on because they are currently seen as less valuable than other land uses.  By promoting awareness of the value of green infrastructure and attractive landscapes VALUE aims to help raise the value of development of quality open spaces and improve social cohesion.

 Wicker Bridge Opening

Green Growth: New Shoots Conference delegates joined South Yorkshire Forest Partnership and watched as Councillor Leigh Bramall opened the new footbridge. The bridge provides an important green link over the River Don in a built up area in Sheffield.

The bridge has been funded by the VALUE Project.

The bridge opening was accompanied by the launch of a new interpretative board, unveiled by Sheffield Lord Mayor Councillor Sylvia Dunkley.

The new interpretative board commemorates the achievements of Henry Seebohm, a steelmaster, ornithologist and explorer who lived between 1832 and 1895.

Tom Wild, SYFP's Director said "we are delighted to be contributing to this important project making the most of the river and celebrating the historic centre of the city. The project helps reduce flood risks as well as improving access to the river, which is becoming a real asset for citizens, businesses and visitors."

The launch event was one of the highlights of the highly successful conference Green Growth New Shoots, which attracted over 200 delegates from Sweden, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands as well as from all over the UK.
